Synopsis of Play:
Set in Atlanta, GA at the start of the Civil Rights movement,
Waiting to be Invited is a tender-tough drama based on
the true story of a singular act of defiance. It tells the story
of the author,s grandmother, Louise Sims and her friends. This
group of strong middle-aged women left their jobs at Rushton's
Doll Factory in Atlanta early one warm and sunny August afternoon
in 1961 and traveled downtown to demand lunch service at a whites-only
lunchroom. Eric Ruffin from the Crossroads Theatre will be direct
this compelling drama.
