In this modern interpretation of one of Shakespeare's most popular tragedies, Macbeth, a rising rock star, is accosted by three witches/groupies who predict he will be king. Influenced by his manipulative and powerful wife, and against his conscience, he murders the current king. Once the crown is his, his fear leads to a series of brutal murders leaving him ultimately in madness and despair.
Actors' Renaissance Theatre, founded by Artistic Director James K. Barnard, is in its eighth season, and was the recipient of the New Times' Best of Phoenix 2002 for Classical Theatre Troupe. It is also the home of the Valley of the Sun Shakespeare Festival.
